Matt Strand, Lead Consultant, Toronto

The challenges the world faces are not technical in nature. There is no lack of competent engineers or lawyers. The challenge that confronts is to find the right words to make sense of the increasingly confusing world around us. I believe the biggest thing I can offer are the ways to instill trust and inspire people to make change happen.
Matthew has worked in the dynamic space between the non-profit and private sector since he co-founded the community economic development program for the national award winning non-profit organization Lifecycles, based in Victoria, BC.
At the same time, Matthew sat as chair of the Greater Victoria Community Economic Development Corporation (CEDCO), an organization that is dedicated to relieving poverty by encouraging participation in the economy through employment and ownership.
He went on to assist in the coordination of the International Children’s Conference on the Environment, Canada 2002, which was held in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme.
In need of warmer weather, Matthew headed to Brazil, where he managed a greenhouse gas emission reduction project involving eight municipal governments in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
Since returning from Brazil, Matthew has worked on a number of marketing and project management projects including clients Green Enterprise Toronto, University of Cape Town Foundation, Toronto Sprouts, Feast of Fields Vancouver Island, Afro Toronto and the Centre for Social Innovation.
