Interesting coincidence: On this day in 1993, Australian band Midnight Oil played a free concert in BC’s Clayoquot Sound, to protest logging companies’ practices in the region. The massive international coverage of the protest unfortunately was not sufficient to catalyze changes in either government policy or industry practice. The Rainforest Solutions Project commenced shortly thereafter, assuming a broader, systems-level approach that included activism, and embraced much more.
