COPUS is a US-based organization that represents more than 500 organizations, and is dedicated to recognizing scientists, championing why science matters and celebrating how science works.
The Year of Science 2009 aims to get scientists out of their laboratories and encourages them to engage the public, and share their love for science.
In launching the Year of Science 2009 on National Public Radio in the US, radio host Ira Flatow said, “If you don’t stand up for science, then no one else is going to do it. We as journalists and scientists have to figure out ways to share science in plain English whenever possible.”
