“BC Hydro had a very positive experience working with Junxion on the 2007 Power Smart Forum. The Junxion team is very strategic and solutions-oriented. Client driven, they focused on meeting our needs by being flexible and keeping our objectives in sight. They’re also excellent project managers, who go the distance to deliver high-quality pieces efficiently and on deadline. Their expertise in the sustainability space closely aligns with our Power Smart business, helping us to create a strategy and execute tactics that address our needs now and in the future. We’re very impressed with Junxion and being a fun group to work with is the icing on the cake.” - Cheryl Sewell, Program Manager, Commercial Marketing, BC Hydro Power Smart
BC Hydro is the largest electric utility in British Columbia and a leader in energy conservation in the province. As part of its Power Smart for Business program, BC Hydro hosts two annual events - the Power Smart Forum, which promotes energy efficiency and education to its commercial, industrial and residential business customers, and the Power Smart Excellence Awards and ceremony, which recognizes businesses that have made significant efforts to reduce their energy consumption and set new standards for energy conservation.
In 2007, BC Hydro Power Smart engaged Junxion Strategy to develop a comprehensive strategy and marketing plan with the objective of expanding the Power Smart Forum and Awards to become the premier conservation events in British Columbia. BC Hydro wanted to expand its scope to reflect the broader conservation dialogue taking place in B.C.’s business community, and leverage the potential that existed to further the reach of its energy conservation message. Junxion provided strategic counsel to shift the events into the broader conservation space incrementally, integrate the positioning of the Forum and Awards, and expand their target audiences and programming.
In partnership with BC Event Management, one of B.C.’s leading event production companies, Junxion provided BC Hydro with a turn-key solution for the three-day Forum in October and implemented the event strategy and execution, including a new brand platform, a micro-website and all print and web promotional materials. Junxion was also instrumental in recruiting Mountain Equipment Co-op CEO, Peter Robinson, to deliver the keynote speech, helping to lay the groundwork for an expanded conservation program at the 2008 Forum.
BC Hydro declared the 2007 Forum a success, with registration exceeding initial targets and the new broader conservation dialogue drawing positive feedback. Junxion is working with BC Hydro on the 2008 Excellence Awards and Forum and will continue implementing changes to their programming and process that reflect BC Hydro’s progressive approach to energy conservation.
