“The signs created for our program were dynamic and eye-catching. We saw many people - of all ages - stopping to read our messages.” - Carla Schuk, Manager, TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, Vancouver Aquarium

Over the past fourteen years, the Vancouver Aquarium has been a leader in the movement to clean up Canada’s shorelines. With the support of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, the annual Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup (GCSC) has become the second-largest event of its kind in the world, attracting more than 50,000 volunteers across Canada.

In 2007, the Vancouver Aquarium enlisted Junxion Strategy to redesign the Shoreline Cleanup signage. With events being held across the country, the Aquarium wanted to promote its corporate brand and efforts, and inform the public, with a clear and consistent message from coast to coast.

Junxion conducted extensive research before creating a simple and bold design strategy. The catchy headlines and informative content served the project’s overall goals by effectively narrowing the scope of the message and focusing awareness on the event. The illustrations were designed to capture attention and simplify the overall image. The result was a dynamic series of bilingual signs displayed at all major GCSC events in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.

Vancouver Aquarium has expanded its partnership with Junxion to include the redevelopment of the GCSC website.
